The world is a noisy place, and for some of us, it is overwhelming to the point of causing physical pain or can trigger anger, rage and outbursts that cannot be controlled.
Hyperacusis is discomfort from loud noise and sound.
Misophonia is an even BIGGER reaction to noise often causing a trigger for sudden outbursts of rage and anger in response to sounds. A few examples include (but are not limited to): chewing, sniffling, snorting, snoring, clicking, ticking, environmental sounds.
No matter what degree of sensitivity you might have to noise, our ears and auditory sensation can be addressed so that sound is within your own comfort level. Those with Autism Specturm Disorder (ASD), Auditory Processing Disorder (APD), Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), and Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) are among the most common populations that suffer from extreme reactions to noise.
We can help!
We have many tools that can alleviate the unwanted emotions and reactions to sound. The auditory system is one of the many sensory systems that can cause severe reactions, but we can train the nervous system to regulate and desensitive itself from such big reactions.
